The
Water Quality Laboratory
Casitas
goes beyond what is required by State and Federal Regulations.
We monitor the lake, watershed, treatment plant and distribution
system above and beyond compliance standards in order to
bring you a consistently safe and dependable water supply.
Casitas began the monitoring program for microbiological
samples in the 1960s and currently analyzes more than 300
extra bacteria samples each year. The supplemental sampling
program provides additional assurance that customers in
all parts of the distribution system are receiving high
quality water. Casitas also tests for Giardia and Cryptosporidum,
two microscopic protozoan parasites that can cause problems.
The Marion Walker Pressure Filtration system is designed
to filter out these parasites.
Casitas also tests regularly
for algae, odor, color, pH, temperature, turbidity (suspended
material), conductivity, dissolved oxygen and chlorine residual.
Additional testing is done after line repairs or replacement
and after maintenance on the Marion R. Walker Pressure Filtration
Plant. These supplemental sampling programs provide additional
assurance that customers in all parts of the distribution
system are receiving high quality water.
