NOTICE OF FULL ROAD CLOSURE: Highway 192 between Highway 150 and Shepherd Mesa Road will be closed to through traffic (local access only) from 8:00 p.m. on August 4, 2026 to 6:00 a.m. on August 5, 2026. Detour signs will be posted. 

Starting Monday, July 20, 2026 and continuing for 4-6 weeks, pipeline construction in Highway 192 will be occurring. Please expect delays along Highway 192 during this time. Detour signs will be posted. Work will involve a combination of traditional open-cut excavation and a trenchless method known as horizontal directional drilling (HDD) to install a 16-inch pipeline. Please see map below for affected area of Highway 192.

The Ventura-Santa Barbara Counties Intertie will connect Casitas and Carpinteria Valley Water District and enable each agency to provide water to the other during emergencies. The project also allows Casitas to access State Water Project water as an alternative water source. In addition to the pipeline, there will be two booster pump stations and other pipeline improvements. State and federal grants and loans were awarded to Casitas totalling $45M.
