The Caltrans permit for work in Highway 192 and Highway 150 has been issued and work will start soon. Potholing on Highway 192 is expecting to begin the week of July 6 for a few days. Future construction will involve a combination of traditional open-cut excavation and a trenchless method known as horizontal directional drilling (HDD) to install a 16-inch pipeline.

The Ventura-Santa Barbara Counties Intertie will connect Casitas and Carpinteria Valley Water District and enable each agency to provide water to the other during emergencies. The project also allows Casitas to access State Water Project water as an alternative water source. In addition to the pipeline, there will be two booster pump stations and other pipeline improvements. State and federal grants and loans were awarded to Casitas totalling $45M.
